Harold L. Doxtad, 85, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Whitfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Sylvia Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 7 -8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Harold was born on November 17, 1927 to Henry and Katheryn (Von Seggern) Doxtad in Emerson, NE. After graduation from high school he received his higher education from the National Business Training School. He was married to Mary E. Gatzemeyer on January 3, 1949 in Maskell, NE. He served his country in the US Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. When he returned home he went to work for the Chicago N.W. Railroad as a brakeman and later became a conductor. Harold loved working on old cars, spoiling his dog, and the company of his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and the American Legion. Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Doxtad; 3 children Leon (Lynn) Doxtad; Larry Doxtad; and June Doxtad; granddaughter Karri (Jason) Wilde and a 2 great grandchildren Kay-Lea and Alexis all of Sioux City; 2 brothers Lowell (Yvonne) Doxtad of Simi Valley, CA; Kenneth (Janice) Doxtad of San Antonio, TX; a sister Harriet (Wesley) Kirch of Kingsville, TX; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Judy.
