SIOUX CITY | Earlena M. Bobier, 79 of Sioux City, Iowa joined her Savior and loved ones Sunday at a local hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Alan Wicks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be made online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Earlena was born April 9, 1933 in Monett, MO. She and her mother came to Sioux City when she was 6 years old. She attended Webster School (where she was later a part time substitute teacher) and Woodrow Wilson. She later attended Central to obtain her G.E.D. through W.I.T.C.C. She also attended WIT for several other classes and graduated as a Certified Activity Coordinator and worked as such for several years at Westwood Convalescent & Rest Home. Earlena retired from Westwood to care for her ailing husband. Earlena was a den mother for BSA for 6 years, she was active in PTA and worked as vice chairperson for the Hamilton P.A.C. during the Urban Renewal process as an advocate for the displaced elderly. She was also a familiar face at City Council meetings on their behalf and did a lot of public speaking about the effect of the project on them. She was active in animal protection and always had pets in her home. Earlena had a very active part in bringing HyVee Food Stores to Sioux City and participated in breaking ground for the first store at 4th & Hamilton. She was an active member of the Crimson Glories, Red Hat Society and enjoyed being a secret sister in the group. Earlena married the love of her life, Leland L. Bobier on Jan. 4, 1953 in South Sioux City. The couple had 2 sons and always lived in Sioux City. Leland passed from this life on Nov. 26, 1999. She is survived by her son, Lee J. Bobier and his wife, Linda of Sioux City and grandson Ben and his wife Crystal, grandson Dane and his girlfriend Sara, grandson Brad Judd and his girlfriend Rachael, granddaughter Christie Peterson and granddaughter Carrie Lebowich and her husband Josh; a son, Mike D. Bobier and his wife, Sharon of Sioux City and grandson Aaron and his wife Lindsey and granddaughter Angela and granddaughter Airrianne and her husband Matt; several great-grandchildren; and her husband's remaining family with whom she was quite close and a dear friend, Joyce. She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson, Chad, mother, father, grandparents, aunts and uncles and a baby sister. Pallbearers will be Aaron Bobier, Ben Bobier, Lee Bobier, Dane Bobier, Josh Lebowich and Matthew Conley. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bobier, Tom Bobier and Pete Zibers.
