Sandra "Sally" Verzani, 76, of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at a local care facility with her family by her side. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, South Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Sally was born on March 2, 1936, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clair and Flavia (Fisher) Pendergast. She graduated from Central High School. Sally married Paul Verzani on Oct. 20, 1956, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1990. Sally loved to play cards, bingo, and puzzles, but her greatest love was spending time with and cooking for her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Jim) Horak of Homer, Neb., Theresa (Dennis) Walsh of Dakota City, Bill (Ann) Verzani of South Sioux City, Tom (Renee) Verzani of Sioux City, and Jon (Diane) Verzani of Omaha; 14 grandchildren, Molly, Shelly, and Megan Copple, Trixie (Lorn) Rogge, Sandy (Alex) DeLao, Katie (Todd) Hill, Maggie (Chris) Celis, D.J. Walsh, Adam, Caid, Allie, and Holly Verzani, Dathan (Rachel) Verzani, and Bryce Verzani; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Sally) Pendergast of Dallas, Texas, and Dick (Helen) Pendergast of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Peggy Massie of Dallas, Texas; and her special dog, Sammie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; brother, Jack Pendergast; son-in-law, Gene Copple; and a brother-in-law, Don Massie. Pallbearers will be Lorn Rogge, Alex DeLao, Todd Hill, Chris Celis, D.J. Walsh, and Travis Cooper.
