Michael Franklin Darrow Miller, 81, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Dakota City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Born April 29, 1931 in Emerson, Nebraska, he spent his childhood in Dakota City, Nebraska with his parents Albert and Helen (Nellie) Miller along with his twin sister Patricia, and older sister Alberta. Mike graduated from Dakota City High School with the class of 1949; and then enlisted in the United States Army. Mike served his country for 29 years, participated in much foreign service including three tours in Viet Nam and retired with the rank of Major. After his retirement he moved to Orlando, Florida and as he always saidstarted working for the Mouse, at Disney World, driving the Steam Engine Train giving rides to thousands of tourists in the Happiest Place on Earth! for sixteen years. In June of 1979, Michael married the love of his life, Rose Hallihan Miller. They made the most beautiful couple on the dance floor, entering and winning multiple dancing contests and doing dance modeling on cruise ships in the Florida area. He dedicated eight years to her care after she was stricken with a heart attack. Mike moved to Bickford Cottage in 2007 where he lived until his death. Mike is survived by his two daughters, Nancy A Miller-Mitchell of Sioux City and Elizabeth Miller Ravan of Georgetown, South Carolina and their families. Also, Rose's entire family were as his own; and his Bickford Cottage family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three wives.
