Evelyn Mae Klagge, 93, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Northern Hills Assisted Living after a brief illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Whitfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Evelyn was born Oct. 14, 1918, in St. Joseph, Mo. She was the daughter of Elmer and Bernice (Radar) Martin. She grew up in St. Joseph and Sioux City and graduated with honors from Central High School in 1936. Evelyn married Norman C. Klagge on Dec. 24, 1937, in Sioux City. Mr. Klagge died Nov. 2, 1996, in Sioux City. She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Rebecca Circle and the Mother's Club. Evelyn had served as president of the PTA and was a den mother and brownie aide. She had served as president, secretary and treasurer of the Postal Auxiliary. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and she was a Drum & Bugle Corps Leader. Survivors included five children, Neil Klagge and his wife, Pam of Layton, Utah, Errol Klagge and his wife, Diane of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Alan Klagge and his wife, Linda of Tetonia, Idaho, Connie Klagge of Everett, Wash., and Judy Stewart and her husband, Scott of Omaha; seven grandchildren, David Klagge and Jenny Nielsen, Deborah Kline and Kendal, Kevin Klagge and Mary Lou Vandenberg, Kyle Stewart and Carly, Aaron Stewart, Kristine Collins and Brent, Keith Klagge and Diane; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Patricia Odom; and a brother, Wallace Martin. Memorials may be directed to Whitfield United Methodist Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
