Mary E. Bland

Mary Ellen Bland 68, of Sioux City passed away at a Sioux City hospital Friday September 28, 2012. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 3, 2012 at Morningside Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday October 2, 2012 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. and prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Mary was born July 21, 1944 to Lowell and Esther (Cummins) Amunson in Soldier, Iowa. Mary graduated from Iowa State with a B.A. in art. On May 29, 1965 she married Richard Bland in Soldier, Iowa. Mary enjoyed Art, Crafts, sewing for church mission projects, gardening, taking care of her home, spending time with her three granddaughters and Mary was very active in taking care of her mother. Mary was a member of Morningside Lutheran where she was a member of the Yoda-Yoda Girls and served many hours as a volunteer at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. Survivors include two sons, Craig Bland of Ft. Myers, Fl., and Eric Bland and his wife Dawn of Jefferson, SD; three granddaughters Kendra, Andrea and Hayley Bland; Mother Esther Amunson of Mapleton, IA; two sisters Julie Britton and her husband Bill of Slater, IA; Doris Mc Burney and her husband Jim of Manson, IA; one sister-in-law Karen Amunson of Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Father and one brother Leonard.
