Cody Lee Harris

November 28, 1986 — September 27, 2012

Cody Lee Harris, 25, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, from injuries sustained in a tragic motorcycle-auto accident. Cody was also known as Toad 310 at the motocross parks. A celebration of life service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Fiddler Creek Motocross Park, one mile west of Homer, Neb. There will be a fireworks display at dusk. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Cody was born on Nov. 28, 1986, in Sioux City, the son of Terry and Cyndi (Frank) Harris. He attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from East High in 2005. He graduated from Western Iowa Tech Community College with a degree in welding in 2006. He has been employed at J & J Fitting for the last four years. From the age of 3, you could always find Cody on his ATV. He won his first trophy in motocross at the age of 3. He continued on to the level of National ProAm where he took seventh place overall in the 2006 Nationals. For the last two years, he raced sportmod stock cars. Cody would say, "I would rather die doing what I love than die just sitting there". Survivors included his parents, Terry and Cyndi Harris of Sioux City; the love of his life, Ashley Richards of Pella, Iowa; a brother, Dustin Harris of Sioux City; his maternal grandmother, Marlene Frank of Sioux City; his aunts and uncles, Barbara Vitek and her husband, Dan, Terri Treft and her husband, Dave, and Jim Harris; a great uncle, Harlan Sturm and his wife, Siv; several cousins; and his many motocross families. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, LaVonne and Ivan Harris; maternal grandfather, Donald Frank; and his uncle, Dale Harris.
