Louisa Mary "Squeak" Gaswint, 95, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and vigil service at 6:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Louisa was born on June 25, 1917, to parents Louis J. and Mary (Meier) Zurn. She married Dale Gaswint at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa in 1941. They farmed in Kingsley and Hinton, Iowa, until the death of her husband in 1964. She lived in Hinton, Sioux City and Jefferson S.D., and more recently at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Danbury, was a Plymouth Co. 4-H leader and worked at St. Vincent's Hospital and Mercy Health Center for 18 years. She and her husband belonged to several square dance clubs and loved to travel. She was a member of the altar society, senior citizen in Jefferson, St. Peter's Church in Jefferson and most recently Sacred Heart Church. Squeak loved people and especially enjoyed the interaction while helping at her son's auctions. She is survived by her children, Roger Gaswint and his wife, Anita, and Mary Thornsberry and her husband, Willis; six grandchildren, Brian Thornsberry of Phoenix, Ariz., Dale Gaswint and his wife, Micki of Wentzville Mo., Melissa Neubrand and her husband, Jeff of Sioux City, Bradley Gaswint of Sioux City, Michele Nadaf and husband, Sorena of Tiburon, Calif., and Jason Gaswint and wife, Tanya of Akron, Iowa; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Agnes Fleury, Elizabeth Schliemer, Margaret Grable, Leona Randall, and Anne Marie Claus; and siblings, Joseph, Paul and Mary at an early age.
