Christopher J. Gaul

Christopher J. Gaul, 52 of Sioux City, passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday, August 6, 2012. A Celebration Of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with family present beginning at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Christopher was born January 15, 1960 in Sioux City to John J. Gaul and Gaye Olmstead Gaul. He received his education in Sioux City Schools, and later earned a GED. He took theatre classes at Briar Cliff College. Chris was later graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty with a degree in Cosmetology. He had worked for a number of years at Body and Soul Salon and was currently employed at Morningside Belle Touche' as a master stylist. Christopher was also a talented make-up artist and wig master, he loved Halloween and the opportunities it afforded him to use his talents. He had several times won prizes for make-up and costume creations at Halloween. Christopher was passionate about acting and the theatre. He always gave 110% to each and every role. Chris always received so much in return from performing to a live audience, it sustained him. He was in numerous productions for LAMB, Community Theater and Shot in the Dark Productions. Chris had also performed in several radio shows over the years. Christopher also had a love for travel. He was thrilled by his first trip to London in 2003, a place he had always wanted to go. He was always excited about planning the next excursion. He took a lively interest in all aspects of the culture, history, and arts of each new destination. Chris had a special love for Greece, Greek culture, and the Greek Isles. Ancient ruins were especially fascinating to him, "It's like I can time travel to another place" he would say. Winter was not his favorite season and he would remark how the vision of the next trip would get him through the ice and snow. Christopher loved all nature's creatures and had a soft spot for any animal large or small. He dearly loved his three dogs and called them, "my sweet babies" and spoiled them shamelessly. Chris had respect and compassion for any living thing. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Gaye Larson; his father John Gaul; his sister Gina Gaul and three nephews Josh, Chad, and Jesse Gaul; his aunt Elaine O'Shaughnessy; his aunt Louann Haley; his uncle Ron Olmstead (Zaida); and his companion of 19 years Cyle C. Murray. In lieu of a memorial, the family suggests you do a random act of kindness for someone in need in Christopher's memory. In closing, Christopher had had a fantastic summer. He had enjoyed a trip to Italy, started a new job he loved, and had gotten a new car. Christopher laid down happy and contented and passed away.
