Phillip Bentley Greedy, 90, Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at The Sweet Life at Brookdale Place. There will be graveside services at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday, August 1st at 10:00AM with Reverend R. Paul Johnston officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Odyssey Hospice, 8735 Rosehill Road, Suite 200, Lenexa, Kansas 66215. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Phil was born August 20th, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of George E Greedy and the former Marjorie Eggleston. Phil graduated from Sloan High School, attended Iowa State University and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a BS Degree in Accounting. He married Joyce P (Enockson) Greedy on January 26, 1946. He was married for 64 years prior Joyce's death in 2010. During their marriage, Phil and Joyce lived in Wahoo, Nebraska, Glenview and Northbrook, Illinois, Atlantic, Iowa and settled in Sioux City, Iowa. In later years he and his wife moved to Overland Park, Kansas to be closer to their daughter, Susan Joslin. Phil was a WWII veteran serving as an Navy LT officer aboard LST-41 in the Pacific Theater, making five D-Day landings. He served in the navy from 1943 until discharge in 1949. He later worked in several administrative and accounting positions with Central Fuel Corporation of Chicago, Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company of Chicago, Henningsen Steel Products Company of Atlantic, Iowa, Wilson Trailer Company and Dyna-Tech Corporation of Sioux City, Iowa and finished his working career with Western Iowa Tech Community College, Sioux City, Iowa as an accounting instructor, Personnel Director and Assistant to the College Superintendent. Phil loved to play golf, and took great pride in his yard and garden. He also was active in Sioux City Kiwanis and Masonic Temple. Phil is survived by his son John Alan Greedy, wife Sharon and granddaughter Kristen of Pickerington, Ohio; son Thomas William Greedy, wife Lisa of Lucas, Texas; and daughter Susan Elizabeth Joslin, husband Chuck Heckmann of Olathe, Kansas.
