SIOUX CITY | Stanley G. "Jum" Davis, 80 of Sioux City, IA passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with military rites concluding the service. Burial will be at a later date in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Stan was born Sept. 12, 1931 in Sioux City the son of Harvey and Bertha (Wagner) Davis. He served with the National Guard and the U.S. Army in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean conflict. He married Phyllis K. Burns on March 1, 1955 in Elk Point, SD. Together they had seven children. Phyllis died March 13, 2004 after a battle with cancer. Stan worked at various manufacturers and packing plants in Sioux City over the years. Before his retirement he worked in janitorial service. He was very proud of the work he did for children through the Abu-Bekr Shrine and was a part of their Foot Patrol. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and Landmark Lodge. Stan enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating and the outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling across the country. Survivors include six children, Harvey Davis and his wife, Tracy of Sioux City, Keith Davis and his wife, Janet of San Marcos, CA, Kevin Davis of Sioux City, Danny Davis and Susan of Prince Fredrick, Maryland, Dawn Holsinger of Sioux City and Rainy Johme and her husband, Keith of Grand Prairie, TX; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Matt (Rachel) and Cody Davis, Conor Davis, Ashley and Steven Davis, Christopher (Rone) Holsinger, Ryan (Valerie) and Travis Johme; and 7 great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Jordon, Madison, Morgan, Ryan, Raelynne and Zachary; he was "Uncle Jum" to numerous nieces and nephews; a lifelong buddy, Robert (Bob) Mathison; and his beloved dog, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis, an infant son Douglas, his parents, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
