SIOUX CITY | Jorge E. Romero-Villatoro, 57 of Sioux City, IA passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at a local hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Cathedral of The Epiphany with Rev. Patrick Behm officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 4:00-10:00 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com . Jorge was born Oct. 1, 1954 in El Sauce, La Union, El Salvador to Dionisio Antonio and Dolores Ofelia Romero. On December 3, 1977 he married Gloria Leticia Hernandez de Romero in San Salvador. The couple came to the United States on Feb. 18, 1999 then settled in Sioux City on Aug. 11, 1999. Jorge was owner and operator of California Pupusas and Bakery in Sioux City from 2009 until present. He had also worked at Sara Lee Bakery in South Sioux City. Jorge enjoyed listening to music and gardening. He will be remembered for his love of being around people and helping others. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Romero; 3 sons, Carlos Romero and his significant other, Kim Martinez of Sioux City, Jorge Romero of Sioux City and David Romero and his wife, Maria of Ames, IA; a granddaughter, Keira; his mother, Dolores de Romero of California; 4 brothers, Ricardo, Samuel, Angel and Luis Romero and a sister, Tomasa Romero all of California; he is also survived by his wife's sisters-in-law who also cared much for him; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dionisio Romero.
