Georgia L. Prescott, 86, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Sunrise Retirement Community. Memorial services for Georgia will be on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Ryan Christenson and Rev. Jon Moravec officiating. There will be a private family burial of her cremains in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Georgia was born on January 21, 1926 in Sioux City to John Joseph and Vivian Faye (Spencer) Scholtes. She graduated from east High School. Georgia was united in marriage to William Prescott Sr. on March 9, 1946 in Sioux City, they were married for 63 years. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2009. Georgia enjoyed gardening and growing flowers with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling and partaking in church activities. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where she was a lay speaker, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendant. She was a Brownies, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and a past PTA President. She is survived by her 5 children Kathy Doan of Wisconsin; William "Bill" (Linda) Prescott Jr. of Sioux City; Caroline Blair of California; Pat Ryan of California; and Rick Prescott of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Jim Scholtes. Memorials may be directed to St. James United Methodist Church or Sunrise Retirement Community.
