Florene K. "Flo" Owings, 66, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at a local hospital. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with Reverend Greg Hanneman officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, July 13, 2012 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Florene was born the daughter of Floyd and Julia (Roland) Williams on March 24, 1946 in Marysville, Kansas. Prior to attending college, she drove truck for Hagan Trucking for two years. She graduated from Briar Cliff in 1992 with a Masters of Sociology. She was married to Fred Paul for 15 years. She later married John Owings on December 24, 1992 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Flo worked for Community Action for 10 years and Siouxland Mental Health for 7 years. She was currently working part time at Shesler Hall. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting archery, and playing games. Florene is survived by her husband, John of Sioux City; one son, Fred (Rae) Renzelman of Omaha; two step-sons, Mike Owings of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and George (Emily) Owings of Sioux City; three daughters, Theresa (Brad) Keuck of Sioux City, Maggie Renzelman of Sioux City, and Colleen McCallister of Salix; one step-daughter, Lorrie (Wally) Doss of Omaha; 8 grandchildren; one great-grandson; 6 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
