Arthur L. Benson

Arthur T. Benson, 72, of Sioux City died Friday, July 6, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Karl Luther officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Arthur was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Kellogg, Iowa, to Hollis and Frances (Callison) Benson. He graduated from Kellogg High School. Arthur served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He married Marge Saunders in 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. He later married Joan Darr on May 19, 1984 in South Sioux City. Arthur was employed as a truck driver for Rod Krahmer Trucking for five years running over-the-road to California and back. Survivors include two sons, Mark Benson and Troy Benson, both of Denver, Colo.; stepson, Robert Darr and his wife Darlene of Omaha; one brother, Jerry Benson and his wife Rose Mary of Grinnell, Iowa; and two sisters, Beverly Johnson and her husband Warren of Iowa, and Ann Chedester and her husband Glen of Laurel, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepdaughter, Beverly Green.
