Barbara R. Connin, 80, of Sioux City died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Inurnment will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 5 p.m., the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Barbara was born Nov. 22, 1931, in Sioux City, to Philip and Emma (Mitchell) Grillet. She attended Heelan High School in Sioux City. She married Richard Connin Sr. on June 27, 1951, in Sioux City. Barbara was employed at IBP for 13 years and then worked as a housekeeper. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. In her free time, she loved to play bingo, crocheting, computer games, baking and cooking. Survivors include one son, Richard Connin Jr. of Sioux City; four daughters, Virginia Martinez and her husband Tom of Sioux City, Beverly Perry and her significant other Art Ericsson of Sioux City, Mari Kramer and her husband Steve of Thurston, Neb., and Charlene McCoy and her husband Charles of Yankton, S.D.; two brothers, Warn Grillet of Sioux City, and Hank Grillett and his wife Doris of Washington; four sisters, Zona Kayl of Sioux City, Yvette Connie of New Haven, Ind., Mary Bland of Phoenix, Ariz., and Virginia Grillet of Arizona; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters; one brother; and three sisters.
