He attended grade school at the East View country school until eighth grade and graduated from Hudson High School in 1965. He later attended a refrigeration trade school near Glenwood, Iowa. James married Jackie Boggs on September 15, 1978 in South Sioux City. James worked for BNSF Railroad and later for Hagan Trucking Company until he started his own business in 1976 out of the back end of a pick up truck. He developed the business over the years with his wife, Jackie into multiple locations in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. Jim's businesses, Keizer Refrigeration, Mid-States Utility, and Transport Refrigeration employ approximately 100 employees. He enjoyed working with his longtime customers and employees whom he considered his friends. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They enjoyed 4 wheeling, boating in Okoboji, go karts, mini golf, watching the races, and vacationing. He also cherished the time he spent on the farm, hunting and driving around in his jeep touring the countryside or just hanging out at his cabin. Jim loved going to NASCAR races in his motor home, riding his Harley, and wintering in Florida with his longtime pals, Buddy and Morkie. He loved those dogs. Jim loved life and lived it to the fullest. He touched a lot of peoples lives and will be missed dearly. Jim is survived by his wife, Jackie of Dakota Dunes; children, Shane (Shawn) Keizer of Jefferson, South Dakota, Stacy Bricker of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, Lana Jackson and special friend Brian Skyberg of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Amy (Andy) Jones of Land O'Lakes, Florida; two brothers, Dale (Sharon) Keizer of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Bob and special friend, Carla of Akron, Iowa; one sister, Charlotte (Larry) Anderson of Alcester, South Dakota; ten grandchildren, Kayla, Lindsey, Cassie, Cody, Jake, Jayden, Brooklyn, Kolby, Mackenzie, and Avery; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Addison; mother-in-law, Dora Boggs of Sergeant Bluff; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be directed to Camp High Hopes or to the American Heart Association.
