SIOUX CITY | Eloise B. Kerl, age 95 of San Juan Capistrano, CA and formerly of Sioux City, died May 25, 2012 in California. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Logan Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling local arrangements. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com . Eloise was born Jane Eloise Benjamin in Fullerton, NE in 1917. She was the youngest of 12 children of Welsh immigrants. She graduated from the University of Nebraska and married U of Nebraska classmate Dean M. Kerl in 1940. The couple made their home Sioux City in 1954. They moved to Deer Lake, MN in 1980 where they resided until moving to Mission, TX in 2005. In 2008 the couple moved to San Juan Capistrano, CA. While in Sioux City, Eloise was active at the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Boys and Girls Home. She and Dean were active in the local German Shorthaired Pointer club. She was a life long member of PEO. In Minnesota, she was a board member of the Deer Lake Association. Survivors include sons, Tom Kerl of San Clemente, CA and Chuck Kerl of Gardnerville, NV; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-great grandhildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean in 2008 following 67 years of marriage, a son, Marty Kerl and a daughter, Kathy Kerl.
