Edith D. Beck, 101, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services for Edith will be on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City with Rev. James Travis officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Edith was born on February 23, 1911 in Wakefield, NE to Nels and Anna (Nordberg) Johnson. She attended school in Emerson, NE. Although she spent the majority of her life being a dedicated home maker and mother of 4, she also worked for 12 years for FW Means and 4 years at St. Vincent's Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and canning. She was a 20 year member of the Fraternal Eagles Club, past secretary of a bowling league, and a member of the South Sioux City Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Edith is survived by her son Robert (EvaJean) Beck of Garfield, AR; daughter Dolores Jaminet of Sioux City; son Larry Beck and companion Renne of Milwaukee, WI; and a daughter-in-law June Beck of Watertown, WI and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ronald Beck, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
