SIOUX CITY | Joyce Hine, 93, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at a local hospital after a brief illness. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Matthew Miller officiating. A private family burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com . Joyce was born December 14, 1918, near Worthing, SD, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Kaffar) Petsche. She attended country school in Lincoln County SD, continued her education in Madison, Ohio, and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD in 1936. On April 4, 1941, Joyce married William D. (Dar) Hine, and the couple moved to Sioux City in 1943. A member of the Sioux City Boat Club and later Dakota Dunes Country Club, Joyce enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Along with other family members, she was a regular at the Siouxland YMCA and enjoyed the friendships she developed as a member of PEO, GZ Chapter. Joyce contributed everything from cooking skill to business savvy to her church activities. Over the years, she served as a Deacon, a member of the Memorial and Christian Education Committees and Church Circle at First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Hine Stimac and her husband John of Portland, Oregon; a granddaughter, Sara, also of Portland; niece Jolean Petsche Schwebach and nephews, Steve and Bradley Petsche. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dar in 2004; three brothers - John, Leo and Marion Petsche; and a sister, Kathryn Larson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations and memorials in Joyce's name be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 608 Nebraska Street, Sioux City, Iowa 51101.
