Helen J. Jansen, 75, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 surrounded by her family and loved ones at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services for Helen will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Randall Knuth officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Helen was born on October 8, 1936 in South Sioux City, NE to Edwin Earl and Dorothy (DeJong) Davis. She graduated from South Sioux City High School. In her later years she worked in the retail business as an Assistant Manager at Preds and Sunshine stores. She spent the majority of her life raising her 3 children being a mother and grandmother. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Duane "Mick" Jansen on March 3, 1962 in Elk Point, SD. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1990 in Omaha, NE. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, taking car rides, playing with her grandchildren and above all else, making time for her family. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. Helen is survived by her 3 children; son Terry L. (Kathy) Cadwell of South Sioux City, NE; daughters Dorothy "Dottie" Cadwell of Blair, NE; and Mickie Jane (Mark) Burke of Sioux City; 3 grandchildren Becky (Ardell) Banta, Brett Burke, Kyle Burke and Fiancée Mollie Ostrihonsky; 3 great grandchildren Josie Cadwell, Blake Banta, and Jacob Banta; 2 sisters Betty Benscoter of Wayne, NE and Edna Martinsen of South Sioux City, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Harry Davis and 2 sisters Winifred Napp and Evelyn Jenkins.
