William E. Conway, 76 of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at a local hospital. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sioux City with Reverend Torey Lightcap officiating. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com William was born on August 1, 1935 in Sioux City to Clair and Bernedine (Smith) Conway. He graduated from Central High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the University of South Dakota. He served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Army from 1958 to 1962 and was a member of the Army Reserves from 1962 to 1967. William was married to Jeannette Amatucci in 1961. The marriage ended in divorce. He was later married to Rebecca J. Gabert on Dec. 1, 1979. William worked as a buyer for Bomgaars from 1961 to 1972, a home contractor from 1972 to 1975, and most recently owner and operator of Conway Sales, Inc. from 1975 to 2008. He lived in Sioux City from 1935 to 1953, Vermillion, SD 1953 to 1958, El Paso, TX 1958 to 1961, back to Sioux City from 1961 to 1973, Sloan from 1973 to 1987 moving back to Sioux City to the present. William was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Vestry Board from 2009 to 2011, headed the St. Thomas Food Pantry, Junior Warden in 2011, Tyrian Lodge #508, AbuBekr Shrine, Abu Bekr Chanters, Chanter President, and Phi Kappa Delta Fraternity. William is in the University of South Dakota Hall of Fame, of which he was a part of the National Champion Basketball Team in 1958. He was a loyal and devoted fan of University of Iowa basketball and football, Norfolk High School baseball, and rarely missed a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball game. William is survived by his wife Rebecca J. Conway of Sioux City; children Lisa (Glen) Musgrove of Edmond, OK; William Conway of Edmond, OK; Chad Conway of Sioux City; Greg Pace of Springfield, MO; Sarah (Kelly) Culver of Sioux City; Scott (Amy) Pace of Olathe, KS; grandchildren Kyle and Keith Musgrove, Riley and Chase Conway, Taylor and Evan Culver, Elizabeth Pace, Noah and Ava Pace; sister Diane Reuschling, brother Robert (Donna) Conway, and brother-in-law Edwin Luikart; and his faithful friend and companion Max his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Nancy C. Luikart. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Kyle and Keith Musgrove, Taylor and Evan Culver, Riley and Chase Conway, Elizabeth Pace, Noah and Ava Pace.
