Sharron J. Gill, 79, of South Sioux City died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Regency Square Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton of St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux City officiating. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Sharron was born on Aug. 5, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Willis and Floris (Keairns) Moore. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1950. She graduated from the Methodist School in Nursing in 1953. Sharron married Arthur Polkinghorn on Aug. 4, 1951, in Sioux City. He died in January 1961, in Arizona. She married Earl Gill on May 8, 1965, in Dakota City. He died on Feb. 22, 2005, in South Sioux City. Sharron worked as an R.N. for St. Luke's Regional Medical Center for about 20 years. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, reading and playing solitaire. Survivors include five children, Laura Stabe of South Sioux City, Linda Mattson and her husband, David of Alta, Iowa, Philip Polkinghorn and his wife, Julie of Simsbury, Conn., Michael Gill and his special friend, Jeanette Smith of South Sioux City, and Terry Gill and his wife, JoAnn of Omaha; a sister, Karen Dye and her husband, Jimmy of Sioux City; a brother, Dennis Moore and his wife, Barbara of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and a grandson, Shannon. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
