SIOUX CITY -- Dale L. "Dutch" Kemp, 87 of Sioux City, IA passed away Monday at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with Rev. Don Craig officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Dale was born April 4, 1925 in Trenton, NE the son of Albert and Emma (Brown) Kemp. He grew up in Trenton and graduated from high school. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. On May 18, 1947 he married Helen R. Porter in Trenton, NE. She died Aug. 9, 2000 in Sioux City. Dale worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for many years and retired in 1990. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing cards, trap shooting and fishing. He was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors in a son, Ronald Kemp of New Brighton, MN; a son-in-law, Charlie Rios of St Paul, MN; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Schuller, Heather Lain, Chuck (Melony) Rios, Mike (Kara) Rios, Mark (Anne) Rios and Kailee Kemp; 9 great-grandchildren and another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 daughters, Nancy Kemp and Debra Rios, a brother, Cloyde Kemp and a sister, Iona Flanders. Memorials may be made in his name to Central Baptist Church.
