Frances M. Jeffres, 94, of Hermitage, Tennessee, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Springfield, TN. Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Kenny Hsu officiating. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Hermitage at the United Methodist Church later this month for friends and family there. Frances, the youngest of 10 children of Otto and Mary (Binnebose) Lembcke, was born on November 12, 1917 in Plymouth County, Iowa. She received her education in the Hinton Schools. Frances married Lauren Jeffres on November 2, 1947 in Hinton, Iowa. They farmed in rural Woodbury County for many years, until they moved to Sioux City, where she worked at St. Luke's Hospital. After her retirement there, she was active for several years with the Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary, working as a volunteer at their store. She moved in 2000 to Tennessee to be close to family, where she attended Hermitage United Methodist church regularly and indulged as often as possible in her favorite occupation- cooking big dinners for the family. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Frances is survived by her son David and his wife,Vicki, of Hermitage, TN; her granddaughters, Samantha Jeffres and Jacee (Jonathan) Preston, and her great-granddaughter,Gillian, all of Hermitage. She was preceded in death by her parents, all her brothers and sisters, and husband Lauren who died in 1989.
