NEWCASTLE, Neb. -- Michael Duane Schulte, 58, of Newcastle passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at a Sioux City hospital. Services for Michael will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Newcastle, with the Rev. David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Newcastle. Visitation with family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Michael was born on Oct. 21, 1953, in Newcastle, to Philip W. and Bernice G. (Olander) Schulte. He graduated from Newcastle High School and attended SE Business School in Omaha. He was a heavy equipment operator for several years and also worked valet for Winn-A-Vegas Casino for the last three years. He was married for a brief time to Kathy Junck in December of 1990. Michael enjoyed all kinds of sports, both watching and discussing them; he was also known to be a great weather forecaster. He was a past member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Newcastle. He is survived by his parents, Philip and Bernice Schulte of Newcastle; six siblings, Don (Sue) Schulte of Ponca, Neb., Jim (Julie) Schulte of New Boston, Ill., Larry (Kristel) Schulte of Ponca, Mary Jean Schulte of Martinsburg, Neb., Patrick (Kristine) Schulte of Elk Horn, Neb., and Lisa (Dean) Burton of Onawa, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Schulte; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
