SIOUX CITY -- Myrtle A. Karnes, 93, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012, at a local care facility. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Myrtle, the daughter of Joseph and Pearl (Balster) Mattingley, was born on January 15, 1919, in Sholes, Neb. She received her schooling in Sioux City and was a lifelong Sioux City resident. Myrtle married Kenneth L. Karnes on November 25, 1948. Kenneth passed away on April 20, 1959. She worked for several years at Sears. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she volunteered extensively. Myrtle also enjoyed quilting. Myrtle is survived by one brother, Lyle Mattingley of Wenatchee, Wash.; one sister, Cora Yarmie of Burbank, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Joseph and Deloise "Buss"; and three sisters, Dorothy, Agnes "Toby," and Pearl "Tudy."
