SIOUX CITY -- Jeanette M. Barber, 73, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, at a local care facility following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Alan Wicks officiating. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jeanette was born on December 3, 1938, in Anoka, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Myrlie) Kaufmann. She graduated from Central High School in 1956. She had been married to Rex D. Barber for many years. Jeanette was a Realtor in Sioux City. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing 500 cards, fishing and animals, especially dogs. Survivors include four children, Susan Dather and her husband, Kenneth of Sioux City, Rex Alan Barber of Sioux City, Tim Barber and his wife, Patti of Sioux City, and Corinne West and her husband, Samuel of Austin, Texas; two brothers and their wives, Raymond Jr. and Carla Kaufmann and Frank and Diane Kaufmann; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her special friend, Randy Peters; and her children with fur. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jim Kaufmann; and a sister, Jackie. Memorials may be made in her name to the Siouxland Humane Society.
