Norma Ellen Mara

LE MARS, Iowa -- Norma Ellen Mara, 59, of Le Mars died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Norma was born August 26, 1952, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Ruby (Walker) Piersol. She served in the U.S. Army from September 26, 1984, to March 6, 1987. She married David Mara on April 17, 2002. Norma was employed with various companies throughout the world, but her primary job was as a homemaker. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and her family. Survivors include her husband, David Mara of Le Mars; two sons, Lloyd (Cristina) Clark of Alvarado, Texas, and Bill Clark (fiancee Gina Stewart) of Sioux City; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Mara and Janice (Randy) Brown; two brothers, Jim (Karla) Piersol of Sioux City and Norman Piersol of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Ashton Clark, Michaela Clark, Taylor Holmes, Jordon Banta-Clark and Lucas Brown; and a nephew, Nathan Piersol. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
