SIOUX CITY -- Doyle Van Stevens, 53, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital after a lengthy illness. He is now at peace in God's arms. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at New Life In Christ Church, 2929 W. Fourth St., with the Rev. James Mosley Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com Doyle was born December 16, 1958, in Sioux City, the son of Ozel and Barbara (Crosswhite) Stevens. He grew up and attended schools in South Sioux City. He met Cathy Anderson in 1979. They married June 22, 1990, in Lincoln, Neb. Doyle worked as an insulator for McIntyre Construction until his illness. Doyle loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Survivors include his wife, Cathy; four sons, Randy (Danyell) Anderson of Omaha, Neb., Elijah (Ashley) Anderson, Darnel Anderson and Jovann Anderson, all of Sioux City; three daughters, Marissa Anderson, Latasha Anderson and Catessa Stevens, all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Cayden, Braxton, Madison, Destyni, Rhayana, Justice, Jaydon, Nicholas and Ethan; a brother, Tyron (Jeanette) Stevens of Mt. Clemons, Mich.; two sisters, Gloria (Arnie) Winans of Deltona, Fla., and Cheryl Booker of Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Kavin, Perry, Reginald, Henry and Greg; two sisters, Joan Rippitoe and Carole Booker; and his grandparents who helped raise him, Henry and Sereptha Crosswhite. Pallbearers will be Randy, Elijah, Darnel and Jovann Anderson, Theory Downs and Miguel Leon. Honorary pallbearers will be Marissa and Latasha Anderson, Catessa Stevens, and Danyell and Ashley Anderson.
