She graduated from the Winnebago High School and then attended Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb. She taught school in Winnebago during World War II. After the war ended, Betty married her high school sweetheart, Rollin Hunter, on Nov. 11, 1945, in Winnebago. They made their home in California for a short time, in Winnebago, and then moved to South Sioux City in 1950. Betty was employed by the Johnson Biscuit Company and Interbake Foods for 37 years and was a member of the Bakers Union Local 433. She was an avid reader and loved watching sports, especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Betty also enjoyed playing the slots at the casinos, being involved in card clubs and spending time with her family and large extended family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Rollin Hunter of South Sioux City; a son, Tom (Deanna) Hunter of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Kathy (Larry) Lantz of South Sioux City; three grandsons; five great-grandsons; and a sister, Laura Huffman of South Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. While we will greatly miss Betty's physical presence; we will always carry the memory of her strength and love in our hearts.
