SIOUX CITY -- Jeanne M. Laizure, 64, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital comforted by family. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Morningside Church of Christ, with the Rev. Matt Wentz officiating. Interment will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jeanne was born on February 29, 1948, in Sioux City, to Russell V. and Georgette M. (Matney) Border. She began her education in a one-room school in rural South Sioux City, before graduating from Homer Public School. She continued her education in Minneapolis, attending Bible College and eventually studying to obtain her LPN license. Jeanne worked in the nursing profession until her marriage to Daniel K. Laizure on July 12, 1975, in Sioux City. After which, she decided to enjoy being a homemaker, raising two children, Shelly and Tim. Jeanne and Dan enjoyed doing everything together including fishing, hunting, and camping. One of Jeanne's favorite pastimes was to sit by her kitchen window, with her dog, Snuggybear, and watch the squirrels and birds that she enjoyed feeding. She had a deep love for animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and horses. Jeanne attended the Evangelical Church of Christ in South Sioux City for years before moving to the Morningside area of Sioux City, where she enjoyed attending the Morningside Church of Christ. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Dan of Sioux City; children, Shelly Krohn and her husband, Dave of Sioux City and Tim Laizure and his wife, Carrie of Polk City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Chloe and Gabriel Laizure of Polk City, Kayla Krohn of Sioux City, Chris Krohn and his wife, Kate of Ankeny, Iowa, and Nate Krohn of Ankeny; great-granddaughter, Lily Ann Krohn of Ankeny; sister-in-law, Carol Border of Sioux City; three nieces, one nephew, and their families; and Snuggybear. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Gerald V. Border.
