SIOUX CITY -- June V. Shinkunas, 87, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 28, 2012, in Sioux City. Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Hamilton Boulevard. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. June was born March 23, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of Eunice and Tony Zalejka. She married John J. Shinkunas on May 1, 1942. They were lifelong residents of Sioux City. After an early and brief career in local retail sales, June dedicated herself to household engineering, with a legendary master's degree in prize winning cake and cookie decorating. She also took pride in her creative and skilled sewing and tailoring. June was a familiar face at area bingo games, enjoying the company of family and friends. June is survived by a sister, Dorothy Babb of Sioux City; sons, John and his wife, Betty of Highland, Calif., Greg of Lawton, Iowa, and Al and his wife, Sherry of Sloan, Iowa; a daughter, Paula Cornelia and her husband, Jim of Sioux City; daughter-in-law, Anne of Moville, IA; grandchildren, Libby, Nadia, April, Alan and Kallie Shinkunas, Jamie and Jim Cornelia, Kelly and her husband, Kurt Sparks, and Justin and his wife, Jenn Skaff; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and a son, Daryl. Luv U Much ... Be Safe.
