Frances M. Carlson, 96, of Sioux City passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Frances was born June 24, 1915 in Sioux City, to Frank and Ella (Peterson) Muchow. She graduated from Central High School in 1933. She was united in marriage to Harry Carlson in May 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Mr. Carlson preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1957. Frances was employed as a school secretary at Hopkins School for 23 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in women's circles. Frances loved playing cards, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and growing flowers in her garden. Survivors include two sons, Steve and his wife Karen Carlson of Ames, Iowa, and Stuart and his wife Cecilia Carlson of Sioux City; one daughter, Karen and her husband Huseyin Yilmaz of Boston, Mass.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a special caregiver, Mary Johns. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Robert Muchow; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Daniels.
