Harriet Ada Copps, 91, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at her residence. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Squires officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Harriet was born January 30, 1921 in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Theodore D. and Emma Josephine (Wilcox) Anderson. She grew up in Storm Lake and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1938. She then attended beauty school in Sioux City. She married Emmit A. Copps on May 1, 1941 in South Sioux City. Mr. Copps died May 14, 1974 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Harriet worked for Kresges and J.C. Penney. After Emmit passed away, she worked for several years at the Westwood Nursing Home. Harriet enjoyed needlework and gardening and she did a lot of volunteer work. Survivors include her son, Ronald Copps and his wife, Trix of Sonora, Calif.; one grandson, Daniel Copps; two great-grandsons, Ronald and Christopher McGregor; two great-granddaughters, Shaila and Hailey of Portland, Ore.; her brother, Donald Anderson and his wife, Peggy of Hoffman, Ill.; her sister-in-law, Ruth Anderson of Storm Lake; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmit; a grandson, Kirk; five brothers; and a sister.
