SIOUX CITY -- Darrell F. Dokken, 78, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Touchstone Living Center. Private family services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012. Private entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 2 to 4 p.m and a prayer service at 3 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Darrell was born Feb. 25, 1933 in Sioux City. He was the son of Dewey and Marie (Iverson) Dokken. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and then the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. Darrell married Barbara J. Cobb on May 5, 1951 in Elk Point, S.D. She died Aug. 10, 2011, in Sioux City. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident and had worked for Armour & Co. and Swift & Co. for over 30 years. Darrell enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Survivors include five children, Randy Dokken and his wife, Vicki, Kathy Charlson and her husband Bob, and Cheryl Schronrock, all of Sioux City, Russ Dokken and his wife Jane of Omaha, Neb., and Susan Deming and her husband Mike of Sioux City; one sister, Phyllis Butler of San Jose, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; two brothers, Leonard and Donald Jack Dokken; and a sister, Betty Dokken. Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Siouxland.
