SIOUX CITY -- Albert F. "Al" Cole Jr., 80, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Casa de Paz Care Center after suffering from heart failure for several years. Services will be 6 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Floyd E. Brown of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Chapel Hill Garden West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. Visitation with the family will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Al was born March 30, 1931, in Alamo, Tenn., the son of Sadie (Blakemore) and Albert Cole Sr. He graduated from Central High School in Alamo in 1951. Al served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and saw action as a paratrooper and M.P. He married Pauline Claudell Morgan on January 5, 1957, in Chicago, Ill. She passed away on April 25, 2000, in Chicago. Al lived in Alamo until 1954, then moved to the Chicago area, where he lived until 2005. He then moved to Dakota Dunes, S.D. He had more than 40 years of service with Michael Lewis Company in McCook, Ill. Survivors include two daughters, Angela Banks and her husband, Stephen of Dakota Dunes, and Alicia Cannon of Duluth, Ga.; three grandchildren, Dr. Brenda Banks, Fred Banks, and Brian Cannon; Al's special friend, Arlene Branaugh of South Sioux City; two sisters, Helen Merriweather of Chicago, and Carrie B. Cole of Alamo; and a brother, Horace Cole of Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline; a son, Claude Cole; a sister, Lorine Lewis; and two brothers, Clarence and Walter Cole.
