SIOUX CITY -- Ruby A. Haldiman, 94, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2012 at Holy Spirit Chapel, with the Rev. Torrey Lightcap of St. Thomas Episcopal Church officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Jamestown, Mo. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Ruby was born April 22, 1917, in Couch, Mo., the daughter of A.L. and Mary Nancy (Roberts) Taylor. She graduated from Alton (Mo.) High School. She graduated from Chillicothe (Mo.) College with a degree in business. She married Harold Gabert in April 1946. They later divorced. She married Jacob F. Haldiman in November 1953. He died in September 1999. She had lived in Alton, Mo., until 1940, then lived in New York City until 1944. She lived in California, Mo. until 1950 and then lived in Jamestown, Mo., from 1954 to 2000. She moved to Sioux City in 2000. She was employed as an administrative assistant for Missouri Penal Authority from 1940 to 1946. She was then employed as an administrative assistant for Missouri Highway Department from 1950 to 1954. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Jamestown. She was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook and gardener. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca and William Conway of Sioux City; a son, Daniel and Brenda Haldiman of Jamestown, Mo.; six grandchildren, Greg Pace of Springfield, Mo., Sarah Culver of Sioux City, Scott Pace of Olathe, Kan., and Jeremy Haldiman, Tricia Schafter and Darren Haldiman, all of Jamestown; three stepgrandchildren, Lisa Musgrove and William Conway, both of Edmond, Okla., and Chad Conway of Sioux City; great-grandchildren, Madison and Makayla Haldiman, Kyle and Keith Musgrove, Taylor and Evan Culver, Elizabeth, Noah and Ava Pace, and Riley and Chase Conway; and a brother, James Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Haldiman in 1999; her sisters, Theta Ross, Rita McDowell and Allie Paglia; brothers, Hafford Taylor, Evan Taylor and A.L. Taylor Jr.; and her parents, A.L. and Mary (Roberts) Taylor. Memorials may be directed to the family or Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
