SIOUX CITY -- Paul S. Ferner, 95, of Sioux City died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tess Pananarow officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the serivce Wednesday at the church. Mr. Ferner was born February 24, 1916, in Sioux City, the son of Erland and Esther (Gustofson) Ferner. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1934. He married Linnea Dorothy Hess on May 19, 1936, in Seward, Neb. She preceded him in death on August 7, 1992. He married Blanche Eggink in 2006. Mr Ferner owned and operated Snyder's Cafe in Spencer, Iowa, from 1944 to 1948. He then worked in sales for Cudahy Meat Packing until 1955, then managed Office Systems, a division of Sioux City Stationery, until his retirement. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Elks Club and the Eagles. He loved to fish and camped with the same group for more than 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Eggink Ferner of Sioux City; a son, Mark and his wife, Linda Ferner of Urbandale, Iowa; a sister, Florence Ebright of Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linnea; a daughter, Carol Ann Fisher; two brothers, Arnold and Clifford Ferner; a granddaughter; and a brother-in-law, John Ebright.
