SIOUX CITY -- Kathryn M. Ehlers, 93 of Sioux City, IA passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday with the family present 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be made online at www.meyerbroschapels.com . Kathryn was born June 19, 1918 in Ireton, IA the daughter of James and Ethel (Hardacre) McGrory. She grew up in Ireton attending rural school and then graduated from Ireton High School in 1937. On May 31, 1939 she married Luverne C. Ehlers in Struble, IA. The couple farmed near Craig, IA before moving to Le Mars. In 1947 they moved to Sioux City. Luverne died March 21, 1983 in Sioux City. Kathryn was a longtime member of St. Michael Church where she belonged to the Altar Society. She belonged to the Golden Age Club and enjoyed playing cards. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family was her heart. Survivors include 3 sons, Charles Ehlers of Moville, IA, Dennis Ehlers and his wife, Pam of Moville, IA, and Thomas Ehlers and his long time companion, Dr. Kristie Yeager of Pewaukee, WI; a sister, Eileen Rohlfs and her husband Raymond of Le Mars, IA; a sister-in-law, Shirley Hof of Sioux City; 4 grandchildren, Kevin Ehlers, Karen Ehlers, Kathy Butler and Kyle Ehlers; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Francis McGrory. Honorary pallbearers will be Karen Ehlers, Kathy Butler, Emily Ehlers, Jackie Ehlers, John Butler and Tracy Rogers. Pallbearers will be Kevin Ehlers, Kyle Ehlers, Sean Patrick Ehlers, Brandon Pierce, Cody Pierce and Jim Butler.
