SIOUX CITY -- Paul W. Redfern, 65, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at a local hospital following a brief illness. Per Paul's wishes, the body has been cremated. A celebration of life service will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Marina Center Cardinal Room, Fourth and B Streets, in South Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Paul, the son of Earnest N. and Dorothy K. (Wincott) Redfern, was born on Feb. 9, 1946, in Vancouver, British Columbia. He graduated from Woodside High School in Redwood City, Calif., and later attended San Francisco State University. Paul spent his first three years in Canada before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he lived for many years. He spent a short time in Lahina, Maui, Hawaii before spending the last 12 years in Sioux City. Paul worked at Olive Garden, Kahill's and LuWe's restaurants during his time in Sioux City. Paul enjoyed golfing and barbecuing. He was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan and also enjoyed game shows and The Dan Patrick Show. He loved being a grandpa to his three grandchildren. Paul had a special fondness for his dog, Maggie, and his family and many friends in both Iowa and California. Paul is survived by one son, Lucas Redfern and his wife, Amiee of Modesto, Calif., and their children, Logan, Aiden and Weston; one brother, David Redfern and his wife, Wendy; cousin, Dorothy Mehaffey; his love, Jo Snodgrass and children, Jillian and Michayla Snodgrass, Ashley Johnson and husband, David; and their son, Justin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Raymond.
