SIOUX CITY -- Robert Andrew "Bob" Bak, 77, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 8, 2012, at his home. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to services today at the funeral home. Bob was born April 24, 1934, in Newell, Iowa, at the family home to Halvar and Hannah (Johnson) Bak. Bob graduated from Newell High School in 1952. He attended college for 18 months to become a certified meat cutter. Bob joined the U.S. Navy, where he served as a photographer for four years. He married Betty Hulsebus, and they had five children, Robert Jr., Michael, Dawn, Brian and Susan. Bob later married Delores (Moe) Brown, and they had two children, Robert Jay and Rodney. Bob worked for IBP and Missouri Valley Steel and was employed as a truck driver throughout his life. His last years were spent driving bus for Siouxland Regional Transit System (SRTS). He enjoyed fishing, golfing, going on long road trips and watching football. Bob also spent lots of time watching his grandchildren in their many activities. Survivors include his wife, Delores (Moe); his children, Robert Jr. (Elaine) of Vail, Iowa, Michael of Hancock, Iowa, Dawn (Ron) Miller of Woodbine, Iowa, Brian (Tammy) of Woodbine, Susan (Mark) Brecht of Waterloo, Iowa, Robert Jay (Melinda) of Hawarden, Iowa, and Rodney (Yvonne) of Remsen, Iowa; his brother, Roger (Karen) Bak of Des Moines, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Halvar and Hannah.
