SIOUX CITY -- Pat Shanahan, 89, of Sioux City passed away January 4, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Deacon Fred Karpuk officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pat was born December 10, 2911 in Lawton, Okla., to John and Toy (Frazier) Shanahan. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a radio operator mechanic gunner with the rank of Technical Sergeant from Jan. 6, 1941 until Sept. 9, 1945. He was employed as an engineer with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Survivors include three sons, John Shanahan of Grand Island, Neb., William Shanahan of Fayetteville, N.C., and Robert Shanahan of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers; and one sister.
