SIOUX CITY -- Roy R. Reisdorph, 88, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military graveside services by the U.S. Army Reserves. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Roy was born on April 28, 1923 to Ward and Susie (Bartles) Reisdorph in Sioux City. He graduated from East High School in 1940. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II. After returning home, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Thoma on May 28, 1949. Roy was a jack of all trades. He spent the majority of his career owning and operating Hydraulic Sales and Service and R & R Industries, retiring in 1991. In his retirement, Roy enjoyed spending time in "Roy's Play House" where he spent his time tinkering and working on things. He enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming, boating, hunting, whittling and volunteering his time with NPI. He also enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as attending family reunions. Roy will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his sense of humor. Roy was a member of the Woodbury County Association and the VFW Sergeant Floyd Post 1973. Roy is survived by his wife, Lorraine Reisdorph of Sioux City; three children, Rodney (Dawn) Reisdorph of Sioux City, Loretta (Jake) Prichard of Hornick, Iowa, and Ross Reisdorph of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, John; and two brothers, Roger and Lee Reisdorph.
