SIOUX CITYDeEtte F. Strand, 81, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at a Sioux City Hospital. Memorial services for DeEtte will be on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial of her cremains will be in the Elk Point Cemetery in Elk Point, SD. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Online Condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. DeEtte was born on November 15, 1930 to Russell and Norma (Gruber) Folsom in Duluth, MN. She graduated from Central High School. She was married to Jerry Strand on November 29, 1950 in Sioux City. Besides being a homemaker, she also worked at Younkers, First Federal, and Home Federal Banks. DeEtte loved spending time with her family and supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also loved to visit with her neighbors. She is survived by her husband Jerry Strand of Sioux City, 4 children, son, Jerry R. (Amy) Strand of Missoula, MT; daughter, Judy L. Jansen of Sioux City, daughter, Lori J. Foster of Sioux City; son, Leonard T. (Chris) Strand of Cedar Rapids, IA; 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a brother Terry (Judy) Folsom of Manchester, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Russell J. Folsom.
