HINTON, Iowa -- Marianne E. Litterick, 84, of Hinton died Sunday, December 18, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Hinton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kolleen Queener officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Marianne was born May 10, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of Alvin and Clara (Vogt) Ellison. She grew up in the Hinton area and graduated from Hinton High School. She married Robert L. Litterick on May 1, 1946, in Sioux City. He died on June 6, 2001, in Sioux City. Marianne and her husband farmed in the Hinton area. She worked for the Hinton Community School District for 30 years. She moved into Hinton about five years ago. Marianne was a lifelong member of Hinton United Methodist Church. She was active in the lunch bunch, the missions and helped with making peanut brittle. She also was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine Auxiliary. Survivors include her son, Keith Litterick and his wife, Patricia of Middleburg, Fla.; her daughter, Lynn Splittorff of Blue Springs, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jason Litterick and his wife, Tamara, Jodi Nesi and her husband, J.R., Jennifer Splittorff, and James Splittorff and his wife, Erin; seven great-grandchildren, Anna, Joel, Meg, Tanner, Tucker, Shea and Devin; a sister, Betty Corwin of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Ellison of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a grandson, Jonathon Litterick; a son-in-law, Paul Splittorff; and a brother, Charles Ellison. Pallbearers will be Steve Mossberg, Matt Mossberg, Doug Corwin, Todd Ellison, George Ellison and Mike Antrim. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris and Brian Corwin. Memorials may be made in her name to Hinton United Methodist Church or the Abu Bekr Shrine Transportation Fund.
