SIOUX CITY -- Carl G. Culver, 72, of Sioux City passed away Monday, December 19, 2011. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. John Pehrson officiating. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Carl was born July 30, 1939, in Sioux City, to Howard and Peggy (Kearns) Culver. He graduated from East High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy. He married Judith Ann Wegher on November 29, 1957, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death in 2002. Carl was co-owner and operator of American Gear Company. He retired in 2001. After his retirement, he became involved with the school lunch program. Carl was a hard worker, shoeing horses, golfing, gardening, woodworking, and lending a hand to those in need. He also enjoyed attending auctions with his wife, as well as spending time with his children and grandchildren. Carl was a loving father and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Survivors include his four daughters, Julia Culver (Larry Muckle) of Sioux City, Traci Culver of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sue (Jeff) Janssen of Moville, Iowa, and Angie Madsen of Vermillion, S.D.; a brother, John (Jan) Culver of Sioux City; a sister, Cindy (Bill) Backer of Sergeant Bluff; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his special companion Labrador, Duke.
