SIOUX CITY -- Lucille R. Burris, 87, of Sioux City died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at a Sioux City nursing home following a brief illness with cancer. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Lucille R. Burris was born December 13, 1923, in Jefferson, S.D., the daughter of Nicola and Christina (Brienzo) Pomerico. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1941. She married Wayne S. Burris on July 16, 1951, in Sioux City. She was a homemaker and served as the lunch lady at Sacred Heart Grade School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved to garden, both flower and vegetable. Most of all, she loved spending time with her whole family, which was a very important part of her life. Survivors include a son and his wife, Craig and Linda Burris of Sioux City; a daughter, Kris Engle of Sioux City; two granddaughters, Nicole and Natalie Engle, both of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.
