Douglas Alan Bates

SIOUX CITY -- Douglas Alan Bates, 47, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at his residence. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Douglas was born on May 18, 1964, in Ames, Iowa. He was a big Nebraska Football fan. Douglas was currently employed at Vizio, and had also worked at Gateway and First Financial Bank previously. Douglas is survived by his daughter, Kristen and her husband, Robert Horton; granddaughters, Jade and Raynah; mother, Norma Harrell; father, Ronald Bates; brother, Michael Harrell; sister, Michelle Redfield; grandfather, Leonard Payton; best friend, Randy Tighe; and roommate, Mary Vaught. Douglas was preceded in death by his stepfather, Pat Harrell; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Olive Bates; and his maternal grandmother, Beulah Payton.
