SIOUX CITY -- Betty J. McCoy, 86, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at a local nursing facility. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at The Church Of The Nativity, with the Rev. Steven McLoud as celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Betty was born June 6, 1925, in rural Coleridge, Neb., to Eugene and Mary (Dresden) Peck. Following her graduation with the class of 1943 at Coleridge High School, Betty attended Wayne State College prior to her marriage. She was married to Ray McCoy on April 24, 1944 in Hartington, Neb. The couple farmed in Nebraska before moving to Sioux City in March 1957. Betty worked at the Zenith factory until its closing and retired from Aalf's Manufacturing. She enjoyed traveling during her retirement. Betty enjoyed her membership at The Church Of The Nativity in Sioux City. Betty is survived by her sons, Ray McCoy Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Sergeant Bluff and Pat McCoy of Worthington, Minn.; grandchildren, Alicia Claycomb and her husband, David, Sara Davis and her husband, Chad, and Adam McCoy and his wife, Cari; and four great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray, in 1994; daughter, Jackie Wiedenfeld; and grandson, Dan P. McCoy. Memorials may be offered to Hospice of Siouxland in Betty's name.
